Get your wig on, girl! According to the official B-52’s site, the 2’s have finally inked a deal to release their much anticipated new album Funplex — the first full studio album from the band since Good Stuff in 1992.
Produced by Steve Osborne, Funplex will be released by the very groovy Astralwerks label, home to Ocelopotamus favorites The Kings of Convenience (not to mention the fabulous soundtrack to The Science of Sleep).

… I’m just hoping that at some point, in addition to the above, they’ll release their cover of “Paperback Writer” as a B-side or a bonus cut through iTunes or something.

I love their artwork. I especially love that their cover designs are so consistent, yet so creatively simple with their backgrounds. My favorite of their album covers are “The Good Stuff” and the debut album.
And their titles! You can always tell from the list of titles that it’s a B-52s album. I’m waiting for the mashup, “Keep This Mess Going and Dance the Party Around.”
My favorite B-52’s album has always been Wild Planet, and that’s my favorite cover, too. I love everything about it: the composition of the shot, the hair, the mod furniture, even that particular shade of red.
Also, the original vinyl album, which I still own a copy of, has an inside sleeve with this brilliant green and black pawprint pattern. One of my favorite elements of New Wave style was all the crazy prints and patterns. I’ve always wished I could find a shirt with that exact pattern …
